Where does Flower Essence therapy come from?
Flower essence therapy originates with Dr. Edward Bach, an English homeopath in the 1930s. Homeopathy is the sister system to flower essence therapy, working on the same principal - vibrational qualities of a substance taken affects the symptoms of the patient.
Dr. Bach found that flower remedies proved to work quite well for spiritual and emotional symptoms. Inititally, he worked with 38 plants and flowers, for which he established a standard repertory of symptoms.
Since Bach's initial findings his work has continued through other homeopaths and alternative health practitioners.

What can Flower Essence therapy do for me?
Flower Essence therapy is a gentle modality, that can have long lasting effects on the body-mind-spirit. Although claims frequently refer to emotional issues, our experience has found that once the core emotion of a health problem is addressed, many times physical symptoms disappear as well. Anyone can use them, they are safe and have no recorded side-effects. They have shown to be beneficial for all ages from infants to the elderly, and have also helped animals as well. Using the essences is simple - they can be administered orally in drops, used in the bath or used in creams and applied topically.
Flower essences can assist with a variety of complaints, from common maladies such as stress, insomnia and digestive problems to deeper issues surrounding trauma, grief and end of life.
FYW has had a great deal of success working with spiritual practitioners both monastics and lay persons, in uncovering core issues behind obstacles in spiritual practices as well. Additionally, essences can help provide a base for calming the system and helping a novice deepen a meditative or contemplative practice.
Recent research has also shown beneficial effects from using essences in massage therapy, mental disorders, palliative care, and terminal illnesses.

If I can go to the health food store or buy these online, why would I want to consult a therapist?
A flower essence therapist has extensive experience working with flower remedies. S/he has studied the responses to essences first hand, noted the varied responses to similar essences, and observed a large number of cases. They have studied various approaches to essence therapy and their philosophies. This background allows the practitioner to easily select a remedy from a number of possibilities and skilfully combine essences so they provide support and healing as the client moves into a new level of awareness.
FYW therapists have a strong background in additional healing modalities and have studied the nature of human behaviour and experience. Any Flower Essence therapist trained by Ms. Fereig has undergone flower essence therapy themselves, and has additional training in meditation, self-inquiry and simple yogic techniques.
This additional support serves to assist the client in truly healing the issue at hand, getting to the root of the difficulty rather than merely solving the symptoms on the surface.

What essences does Fereig Yoga and Wellness work with?
FYW has chosen to work exclusively with FES essences. There are many flower essence companies in the marketplace these days, but FES stands out among them for their integrity and professionalism.
FES has continued the work of Dr. Edward Bach, and expanded the repertory of essences substantially through meticulous cataloguing and attention to detail. They are the only company with a large detailed repertory for professional therapists, and continue to gather research and findings themselves and from their professional members. All essences are made with great care and respect for the process, and provide consistent results.
FES' associate company Healing Herbs provides the BACH remedies, which have served as a base for FES to build their own research on, and are included in the repertory used by FYW.
FEREIG YOGA AND WELLNESS is a proud member of the Flower Essence Society and contributes regularly to their ongoing research.
